Rod Fallis was born in Vita, Manitoba on August 8, 1954. Fallis played in the Manitoba Junior League from 1972-75 for both the Carman Goldeyes and the Transcona Millards. In 1975, he was selected to play in the Canadian junior championship by the St. Boniface Legionnaires. From 1973-76 he played for Mayville State College and was conference all-star first baseman in 1976. Fallis’ team won the North Dakota championship in 1973, ’74, and ’76. From 1976-81, he played for the Binscarth Orioles in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL), where he was named onto the North Division first team all-star first baseman from 1977-81. In August of 1976, while competing with the Binscarth Orioles, Fallis scored 4 home runs in a single game, an MSBL record that stuck around for long after his retirement. For two winters during 1980-81, Fallis played in Australia, where he was third in league batting. He was also a member of the Carman Goldeyes senior team and the Manitoba senior champions and silver medalists at the western Canadian championships. Fallis was a player, coach, and manager of the Manitou Braves in 1985 and 1986, and then afterwards was the same for Glenboro from 1987-90. Following this, in the early 1990s, Fallis operated the Eclipse Baseball School in several provinces, states, and Barbados.
