Orville Minish was born in Swan River, Manitoba on June 24, 1919. Minish was a great left-handed pitcher with Minitonas, Bowsman, the Winnipeg Maroons, and the Fargo Moorhead Twins. He was an air force mechanic during World War II between ball games. Minish was a workhorse on all of his teams. He once pitched three games at Carberry, allowing just one run on 8 hits, and had a patented pick-off move at one point in his career. After World War II, Minish started a team in Foxwarren before later moving to Gilbert Plains.
