Clarke (Lefty) Metcalf

Clarke Metcalf was born in High Bluff, Manitoba. Metcalf was a superb left-handed pitcher in the 1930s and ’40s. He was with the Winnipeg Maroons in 1937 and ’38, and he later hurled a one-hitter against Fargo. Metcalf’s catcher was usually Dick Mutcheson. He excelled as a tournament pitcher in Souris, Holland, Morden, Carman, Carberry, Virden, MacGregor, High Bluff, Polar Point, Gladstone, Neepawa, Plumas, Flin Flon, Wellwood Brandon, Portage, Walhalla, South Dakota, Duluth, and Minnesota.
