Barry Moffatt

Barry Moffatt was born in Carroll, Manitoba on October 10, 1939. Moffatt was a speedy left fielder and a good lead-off left-handed hitter. He started his career with the Souris Cards in 1955 at the age of 16, and then moved to Riverside in 1960. Following this, he spent nine years in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL). Moffatt was on the first all-star team in 1963 and ’68, and the second all-star team in 1965, ’66, and ’67. He was the league batting champion in 1969 (.481), and he had a hit every game that season. In 1963 and ’69, he led the league in in three different categories. Moffatt was a player with the MSBL All-Stars in the Manitoba and Western Canada championships in 1968, and he was the July 1st champion at Birtle in 1969. Moffatt was also an excellent hockey player, who tragically died of a hockey injury while playing with the Souris Elks.
