Mike Labossiere

Mike Labossiere was born in Brandon, Manitoba on July 29, 1952. Labossiere was a catcher with the Virden Oilers from 1969-74 and with the Hamiota Red Sox from 1975-89. He was a Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL) first team all-star 11 times, a second team all-star six times, and MSBL MVP in 1982. Labossiere was also on six MSBL championship teams, and named as the catcher for the MSBL 40 year all-star team. He played in nine western Canada championships, seven Canadian championships, and three world championships, including in Italy and Japan. For well over a decade, Labossiere was on the Baseball Canada Coaches’ Committee and he prepared three coaches manuals, authored “Getting Started in Baseball”, and conducted coach evaluation at the 1997 Selects in Stonewall. Labossiere was the Manitoba Baseball Association course conductor and High Performance Committee member. He was also a New York Yankees scout for over a decade.
