Randy Ladobruk

Randy Ladobruk was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 1, 1959. Ladobruk was one of the best catchers of his era, with a great arm as well. He led the junior Elmwood Giants to two juvenile championships, three provincial junior championships, and one western Canadian junior championship. Following his junior career with Elmwood, Ladobruk joined the Elmwood senior team and continued to find success. He was a player on this team for eight years, and he helped them win three Redboine pennants. He appeared in seven Redboine finals and represented the province twice in western Canadian championships, earning two silver medals. Ladobruk also played on the 1981 Redboine all-stars at the Canadian championship, and then on the 1983 Saskatchewan team that won the Canadian senior championship. He was previously inducted into the Saskatchewan Hall of Fame as a part of this team. In 1982 and ’83, he played semi-pro baseball in Australia for two winter seasons. Following his professional playing days, Ladobruk continued to play slow pitch and baseball with the Chatfield Oldtimers.
