Scott Kwasnitza was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 2, 1962. Kwasnitza started off his baseball career strong, and was a consistent all-star throughout his minor ball seasons. From 1980-85 he was a member of the St. James A’s, during which stretch he was a league all-star four times. He was the 1982 Pitcher of the Year, with a record of 10-1, and he was the all-star first baseman at the western Canadian championships in 1983. Kwasnitza went on to attend George Fox College in Newberg, Oregon from 1981-84, funded by a baseball scholarship. He then played two more years with the St. James A’s before joining the London Royals in the Southwest Ontario League. With the London Royals, he was an all-star two times. From 1988-90, Kwasnitza was part of of the Grosse Isle Blue Jays, during which time he also received all-star recognition. Between 1974 and 1983, Kwasnitza played in ten consecutive provincial championships, as well as on Team Manitoba at the Canada Games in 1981. Kwasnitza has also been involved in coaching and administration. He was the Manitoba Youth team coach in 1989 and 1997. During his 1989 year, he led Team Manitoba to a bronze medal.
