Bev Fisher

Bev Fisher was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Beginning in the 1970s, Fisher coached in the Red River Valley and Elmwood areas. These included teams in the Red River Valley League and at the North Kildonan Community Club. He was also the first coach of the River East Raiders in the Manitoba Junior Baseball league. In 1977, the North Kildonan U15 (bantam) team he coached won the Provincial U15 AAA Championship. Fisher later joined the the Elmwood Giants coaching staff in 1980 and served as a coach for their U18 (midget), junior, and senior teams. He then coached the Bonvital Midget Black Sox from 2001-04, and helped to develop the skill of the Winnipeg Wolves team by serving as an infield coach. Fisher was also involved in local infrastructure as he helped to build a U15 field in North Kildonan with primarily volunteer labour and donated materials. His efforts resulted in the creation of Whittier Park, Manitoba. Fisher was also a member of the Elmwood Giants Board of Directors, and he donated much of his time to upgrading facilities, installing lights, and overseeing employees and volunteers.
