Shane Moffatt was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on January 26, 1962. Moffatt was one of the most dominate senior players in Manitoba for over two decades. He was an outstanding shortstop, pitcher, and hitter. He played for Portage and Carman in the Redboine League, and also for Souris, Brandon, and Birtle in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL). Moffatt led the Carman Goldeyes of the Redboine League to five Manitoba titles in six years (1983-89), and was on nine provincial championship teams. In the Redboine League, he won four Top Pitcher awards, three League MVP awards, four Playoff MVP awards, and was named Rookie of the Year in 1984. Moffatt later won the MSBL league title with the Brandon Cloverleafs in 1996, and the Birtle Blue Jays in 2000, 2002 and 2004. He was the Manitoba Baseball Association’s Senior Player of the Year in 1987, 1996, 1998, and 2000. Moffatt was on the first all-star team nine times, and he was a three-time winner of the Loops Top Pitcher award, the years being 1993 (6-1), 1998 (8-1), and 2000 (7-0). Moffatt was named the MSBL MVP in 1998 and 2000, and he was Playoff MVP of the MSBL six times. Because of his decorated resume, Moffatt was named to the MSBL 40 year all-star team in 2000, and to Manitoba’s 20th century all-star team as a utility player. Shane Moffatt is the son of fellow inductee Barry Moffatt.
