Andy Alexiuk was born in Sundown, Manitoba on September 12, 1931. He was involved in baseball for 40 years as a player, coach, and administrator. Alexiuk started in Sundown – Vassar district, and was later associated with Erickson, Balmoral, Canadian Ukrainian Athletics Club Blues, South End Sioux, St. Boniface Mallards, Vita, St. Boniface Native Sons, and the Transcona Buccaneers. Alexiuk was the prime organizer of the Redboine League and coached the Western Canada gold medalists in 1978 at Nanaimo.
