Steve Derewianchuk was a very vocal catcher with Vita Cubs, Tolstoi Jets, Winkler Royals, and Rossburn. Derewianchuk was a feared hitter, fast runner and also did some pitching. He was an All Star Catcher in the United States Dominion League and later in the South East Border League. In 1955 he helped Vita win the States-Dominion League Championship. In 1956 Derewianchuk played with the Vita Cubs in the States Dominion League where they won the pennant. In 1956 Steve caught for Tolstoi helping them win N.W. States League Championship where they won 27 out of 33 games. Derewianchuk also helped Vita in the South East Border League Championship in 1959 and was voted MVP in the Championship. After retirement from Baseball he continued in slow pitch and was a member of the 2000 Manitoba Fastball Provincial Champs in the 65+ category.
