Al Robertson was born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on September 28, 1939. Robertson was an excellent player, coach, and administrator of baseball. He was the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL) Batting Champion in 1967 when he hit .395, and was on the MSBL all-star team 12 times. Robertson was president of the MSBL from 1982-84, Manitoba Baseball Association (MBA) Coach of the Year in 1985, MBA president from 1970-71, and a member of the MBA Honour Society (1988). He batted .482 for Team Canada at the 1967 Pan-Am Games, and in 1985 he was named Western Manitoba Sportsman of the Year. Robertson was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
