Gladwyn Scott was born in McConnell, Manitoba on January 28, 1932. Scott played for McConnell, Cardale, Foxwarren, Hamiota, Miami, and Carman. He was an all-star pitcher at Indianhead in 1955, coached for 38 years, won several provincial crowns (including in 1957 where he won bantam, juvenile, and junior crowns in the same year), and he barnstormed as a player-coach in Hamiota in 1957. Scott won the prestigious Birtle July 1st tournament seven consecutive years (1951-61). He coached Canada’s Pan-Am Games team in 1967, was vice-president of the Carman Pan-Am Society, Manitoba Baseball Association (MBA) president (1983-87), general manager of Canada’s Youth team at the World Championships (1987-89), and was MBA Volunteer of the Year in 1996. Gladwyn Scott was the first Manitoban inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
