Bruce Hudson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 13, 1928. Hudson played with the Rosedales and the St. Boniface Native Sons. He was a good catcher and hitter with the Rosedales from 1946-50, and won the city junior championships in 1949-50 over Elmwood. Hudson was Tribune junior all-star catcher in 1948-49, played with the St. Boniface Native Sons in 1951-55, won the Winnipeg title in 1951, ’53, and ’55, and his team was runner-up in ’52 and ’53. Hudson also became very proficient at golf and curling. He was president of the Pine Ridge Golf Club from 1970-71, and was on the Manitoba senior golf team in 1991. He had earlier served as president of the Manitoba Curling Association from 1967-68 and was inducted into the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame in 1994.
