Wayne Gullett

Wayne Gullett was born in Wawanesa, Manitoba on January 26, 1962. Gullett played shortstop and second base with the Riverside Canucks from 1979-96 in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL). In 1981, he played with Team Manitoba at Thunder Bay in the Canada Summer Games. In 1982, his Riverside team won the MSBL championship title with Gullett receiving the play-off MVP award. In 1984, Gullett was a MSBL all-star, in Boissevain in 1985 he was the Tournament of Champions MVP, and his all-star team won gold at the Canadian Western Championship in Surrey, BC. This team also won bronze in Kentville, Nova Scotia, at the Nationals. Gullett was the 1988 MVP at the Tournament of Champions in Belmont, and in 1995 he received the Cliff Seafoot Memorial Award for sportsmanship. Gullett also found success as the coach of the Wawanesa Brewers, who were three-time Border West League champions and four-time Southwest League winners. In addition to baseball, Gullett was a dedicated volunteer in his community and also an excellent Hockey Manitoba referee for over 36 years.
