Walter Mueller

Walter Mueller was born in Manitou, Manitoba on May 23, 1937. Mueller was truly Manitou’s Mr. Baseball. He spent 25 years as player/manager of the Manitou Braves, and he was associated with the team for over 40 years. Mueller was picked often picked up by Morden or Pilot Mound to pitch in provincial tournaments. He was named several times to the Border League all-star team over the course of his playing days. Mueller went on to coordinate the Manitou Minor Baseball Association for 25 years, convene Manitou’s Sports Day for many years, and convene two provincial championships. He was a founding member of the Central Regional Sports Association, and also an involved member of the Pembina Hills Recreation Commission. Furthermore, Mueller was on Manitou’s town council for 35 years, and spent over ten of them as mayor. In 1996 Mueller was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Association Honour Society.
