Derrick Mudge

Derrick Mudge was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 5, 1966. Mudge began playing baseball in Winnipeg, and he spent most of his career with Legion 141. In 1983, he was a member of the Interlake U18 team that competed in the national championships. He continued to improve after this, and was named a junior all-star in 1987 with the Legion 141 Veterans. In 1996, the Elmwood Giants picked him up to represent Manitoba in the National Championship. Two years later, in 1998, Mudge and the Legion 141 Veterans earned both Redboine and provincial championships. That same year, Teulon acquired Mudge’s talent for the Nationals. From 2001-05, he was a member of the Elmwood Giants baseball club, where he played in four provincial championships and two Western Canada Championships. This incredibly successful Elmwood team was previously inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame. Mudge went on to coach after his playing days, and he led multiple successful teams from Winnipeg North, including a U15 AAA team that won silver at the Western Canada Championship in 2015.
