Tony Kalechyn

Tony Kalechyn was born in Grandview, Manitoba on January 21, 1944. Kalechyn was an infielder for 32 years for teams in Grandview, Rossburn, Binscarth, Angusville, and Neepawa. He was named to Manitoba Senior Baseball League all-star teams seven times, and was a member of two Team Manitoba squads at western Canadian championships, as well as one that went to nationals. Kalechyn coached minor and senior teams, was organizer of Parkland Minor Baseball, and he was a provincial grassroots delegate. Later in his career, Kalechyn was involved in baseball facility maintenance, including CanWest Global Park for the 1999 Pan-Am Games. He was also an active coach in volleyball, basketball, badminton, and track and field.
