Bob Kabel was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on November 11, 1934. For 20 years, Kabel was the catcher and team leader for the Dauphin Redbirds. He was known as a fearless team leader, good base runner, and a powerful hitter. Kabel won the 1962 Manitoba Senior Baseball League batting title with a .424 average. Bob was a colourful character in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the baseball community. He also played hockey for 15 seasons.
