Rick McFadyen was born in Brandon, Manitoba on September 29, 1953. McFadyen played 20 years in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL) with the Brandon Cloverleafs. He was a talented pitcher and a powerful hitter. McFadyen was a first all-star 11 times and second all-star four times. He was MSBL Top Pitcher in 1983 (8-1) and 1984 (5-1), with a lifetime record of 43-22 and a lifetime batting average of .328. McFadyen was also the batting champion in 1975 (.418), League MVP in 1983, and playoff MVP in 1980. He was selected as pitcher for the MSBL 40 year all-star team in 2000. McFadyen played on five Manitoba championships and helped Manitoba win the silver medal at the 1973 Baseball Canada championship.
