Ken Sharpe

Ken Sharpe was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba on February 6, 1962. Sharpe began playing baseball at a young age in the Hazelwood district near Minnedosa. He was often picked up by other teams who were attending provincial or western tournaments. At the U18 Western Canada championship in 1979, he was named the top left-handed hitter of the event. Following this, he began his senior career. Over 15 years, he played for Neepawa, Brandon, Cardale, and Minnedosa. With these teams, he was consistently an all-star and was almost always at the provincial championship events. Later, he gave back to the sport of baseball by involving himself in the administration and improvement of baseball in Manitoba and Canada. In 1991, he was a key factor in the creation of a successful Minnedosa Maverick senior team. He was on the board of directors of Baseball Manitoba from 2000-22, and during this period he served as president from 2003-14. From 2012-16, he was President of the Western Canada Baseball Association, and from 2002-14, he was a board member of Baseball Canada. As of his Induction into the Hall of Fame, he was still serving as Treasurer of Baseball Canada.
