Jack Denbow was born in Brandon, Manitoba on October 29, 1934. He was a very good left-handed pitcher who was simply called J.D by many. Denbow’s talent for baseball was revealed early, as when he was just 15 years old, he pitched Brandon Mental Hospital to a Central Manitoba Baseball League championship. Denbow also pitched in the Manitoba-Saskatchewan League for a year. He later went on to play multiple seasons with the Brandon Cloverleafs and Kelowna, with whom he was a three-time MVP. Denbow was also a black belt judo player and coach from 1956-88, and he spent five years as a professional hockey trainer.
