Jack Callum was born in Miami, Manitoba on October 26, 1936. Callum became involved in Miami baseball as a player beginning in the late 1940s, and in 1954, ’55, and ’56 Callum’s team won the Rural Juvenile crown. Following his years of play, he became involved in Manitoba baseball primarily as a builder and has been involved in many developments over the years. He has been greatly involved in the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, serving as a director in 1998, vice-chairman in 2002, and served as chairman from 2003-2011, before again taking on the role of director. As chairman, Callum negotiated the lease of space in the Morden Community Complex that the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame would be allotted. He also organized the expansion project of 2008-2010 which resulted in the current Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Callum was not only involved in baseball, but also fastball and curling. Callum coached the Seven Sisters team in the North Eastern Manitoba Fastball League, and he served as the league’s president in 1961 and ’62.In curling, he was a player, club president, and board member. He even served as chair of the Manitoba Curling Association.
