Ernie Boushy

Ernie Boushy was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba on November 14, 1933. He played with the Dauphin Redbirds from 1948-51, the Carman Cardinals of the Manitoba-Dakota (Man-Dak) League in 1952, and also in Welch, West Virginia, in the Appalachian League in 1953, where he ended the season as the hits leader and leader in fielding at third base. In 1954, Boushy went on to play in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in the Piedmont League. Boushy also scouted for the St. Louis Browns and Philadelphia. Despite his impressive resume, Boushy decided to return home to Swan River in 1955, where he took up curling. He then quickly became a prominent Manitoba curler, earning four provincial and two national mixed titles over his career.
