Daune Yerex was born in Eden, Manitoba on March 28, 1930. Yerex was an excellent left-handed pitcher with a good fastball and curve. He started playing with his local Eden team at the age of 16, and then moved to Springhill from 1950-55. Yerex was a work horse during his playing days, and he often hurled 30 innings in a four days stretch, even pitching a not-hitter against Selkirk. Yerex was often selected to all-star teams, and he moved to Winnipeg later in his career to manage a tournament team, the St. Avila Royals. Yerex later returned to Neepawa and managed the Neepawa Farmers for four years, and the Neepawa Cubs for one.
