Bryan Swaenepoel

Bryan Swaenepoel was born in Souris, Manitoba on December 11, 1979. Swaenepoel began his minor baseball career with Souris, and he was a member of the Oil Dome regional teams from 1991-97. He later was picked up by Carillon and Carman to play in a couple of Western Canadian Baseball Championships. The junior Carman Goldeyes team that he played on was recognized by the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in the class of 2020 for its achievements. In 1996 and ’97, he played for the Manitoba youth team. Following this achievement, Swaenepoel went on to play college baseball from 1997-2003, and he was named All-Conference Catcher with Valley City State College. At the same time, from 1997-2013, Swaenepoel was in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL) with Souris and Brandon. He was named a league all-star on 15 occasions, and he amassed a career .427 batting average in this league. Swaenepoel was a member of six MSBL championship teams, and the 2007 team found further success at nationals, winning silver. This 2007 team was also previously recognized by the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame.
