Tycoles Family

The Tycoles family of Reston were instrumental to the success of baseball within Reston and other Manitoban communities. Father Ross Tycoles was a strong baseball player, and he excelled at coaching and organizing duties in Reston. His efforts helped the Reston Rockets become become a AAA caliber team and led them to multiple Canadian championship tournaments. At the time of induction, Ross was was the chair of baseball Manitoba’s senior council. Mother Carol Tycoles was the backbone of the family for well over four decades, and has supported them through all their events. Son Aaron Tycoles played with Reston throughout the team’s successful years. He went on to live in Rivers, Manitoba, and was a key component of the community. He was instrumental in developing minor baseball and a new baseball complex in the area. Aaron also served on Baseball Manitoba’s management committee, and at the time of induction he was president of the Westman region. Son Roy Tycoles also found success with the Reston Rockets. He was named Manitoba AA Senior Player of the Year in 2004, and the Senior AAA Player of the Year in 2012. Roy later moved to Stonewall, Manitoba, and was a member of the 2019 western Canadian championship team there. As of induction into the Hall of Fame, Roy lived in Lundar, and was a coach in the community. Daughter Amy was also heavily involved in the Reston Rockets. She was the longtime Reston announcer, scorekeeper, program maker, 50/50 coordinator, and canteen coordinator. Amy was also a scorekeeper and announcer for multiple western and national tournaments. Due to the family’s countless hours spent at the ballpark, the Reston ballpark was named Tycoles Park.
