In 1935, Belmont had a high school baseball team and a senior team, but only one set of uniforms. The two teams played each other to decide who would get to use them, and the high school team won. This was the beginning of the Belmont A’s.

During the month of July, this team would often play up to four tournaments a week, with the first one always landing on May 24th. Harvesting in August curtailed play, so there was a rush to get in as many games as possible before then. Between 1952 and 1954, Belmont won $300 at July 1st tournaments in Morden and Neepawa, and won the Central Manitoba Baseball Association crown at Neepawa in 1952. The team was well-respected and successful for much of 30s, 40s, and 50s.
