STORY
The St. Lazare Athletics had a powerful team with devoted and enthusiastic fans. They demonstrated that a small town could support a high-quality team. St. Lazare competed in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL). They won the league pennant in 1964, but lost in the championship match. In 1965, they won the league championship and then the Provincial Senior AAA Championship. The team set multiple league records, including Bill Cundiff’s 170 strike-outs in a season, and many players from this team have previously been inducted individually into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame.
