Wayne Seidler

Wayne Seidler was born in Giroux, Manitoba on July 3, 1950. Seidler was a dominate player who was versatile on the field. During his career in Giroux, he was named MVP six times, he led the team in home runs five times, in runs batted in five times, and he had the lowest pitcher’s earned run average stat on several occasions. Seidler was named both a league all-star pitcher and a league all-star shortstop twice in the span of just a few years. He was a switch hitter, and once during a Redboine senior baseball game, he hit two back-to-back home runs from both sides of the plate. As an elite player, Seidler was picked up to play on numerous occasions by other teams participating in provincial championships. In 1978, he was the winning pitcher for Team Manitoba in the Western Canada Championship at Nanaimo, BC. He went on to participate in the 50 and over World Championships for senior baseball, where he played with the Red Deer Red Sox three times. One of Seidler’s greatest compliments came from an opposition player, in reference to his red hair. “He may be a carrot top, but he can sure throw peas!”
