Tom Town was born in Brandon, Manitoba on April 14, 1940. Town was an all-star first-baseman with the Brandon Cloverleafs, who were seven-time Central Manitoba Baseball Association champions between 1954 and 1960. During his time in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League, Town was an all-star first-baseman nine times, and batting champion twice (1966 and ’69). He was on the National Championship team of 1972, and he was on Provincial Championship teams in 1966, ’67, ’69, and ’71. Town was also president of the first Canadian Youth Championships in Brandon (1989), and president of the World Youth Championships in Brandon (1991 and 1994).
