Stan Oleson

Stan Oleson was born in Glenboro, Manitoba. For over 40 years, Oleson served in a host of management and executive positions to act as a builder of the sport of baseball. He managed the Glenboro Canucks for five years in the 1950s, and then again from 1969-81. Oleson acted on the Glenboro host committee for numerous provincial and western Canada championships. He also served as the Santa Clara League president for two years, served five years as the Manitoba Baseball Association’s treasurer or secretary-treasurer, and he was secretary-treasurer of the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame when it began in 1996. Oleson was also very involved in curling, and he was inducted into the both the Manitoba and Canadian Curling Hall of Fame. Glenboro’s baseball field was renamed to “S.A. Oleson Field” because of his immense contributions to the sport in the community.
