  • INDUCTED 2009

Scott Neiles was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 8, 1961. Neiles was a dominant player across all the leagues he played in. An acrobatic shortstop, he led his league at one point or another in every offensive category, including the all-time runs batted in record for the Manitoba Junior League, which he still held at the time of his induction into the Hall of Fame. In 1982, Neiles’ St. Boniface Legionnaires won the junior national championship, and Neiles was the runner-up league MVP. Following this fairytale ending to his junior career, Neiles went on to be Rookie of the Year in the Redboine Senior Baseball League in 1983, and Baseball Manitoba Senior Player of the Year in 1993. Neiles was an anchor for the St. Boniface Native Sons, who won five consecutive provincial senior baseball championships from 1989-93. From 1994-2000, he joined the Winnipeg Goldeyes’ coaching staff, and helped the team make the playoffs all six years that he was there. In 1989, he was one of only two non-Australians drafted into the Australian Baseball League, which was affiliated with the American Major League. One year in this league, Neiles won the national championship with his team. Over the course of his career, Neiles was consistently chosen as an all-star whenever he played. He went on to become an owner of Home Run Sports.
