Mike Krykewich

Mike Krykewich was born in Grandview, Manitoba in 1965. Krykewich was a respected coach who made invaluable contributions to baseball in Manitoba. He coached Manitoba Provincial teams at every level, including Manitoba’s select team for the Canada Cup. He was guest coach with the Women’s National team in 2009, and was awarded Baseball Canada’s Coach of the Year award. Krykewich went on to coach internationally in Cuba, Japan, and at the World Children’s Baseball Fair. He even coached in England to promote baseball there. Krykewich was vice president in both coaching and marketing for Baseball Manitoba, and he also served on the management committee. Krykewich, in an effort to further support baseball in Manitoba, volunteered his time to begin a baseball program at the University of Winnipeg . Despite minimal funding, Krykewich’s efforts eventually earned the program official recognition from the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics).
