Laurie Artiss was a major contributor to the growth of baseball in Manitoba. He was a founding member of the Manitoba Minor Baseball Association and the first President of the Manitoba Senior Baseball League. Artiss was also an athletic Director in Dauphin and Virden, and sports editor of the Brandon Sun.
