John Meredith was born in Glenboro, Manitoba on November 14, 1901. Meredith was an outstanding pitcher for the Brandon Greys. He had both a great fastball and an exquisite curveball. Once, in 1921, Meredith shut out the Winnipeg All-Stars with the Brandon Greys (8-0), allowing no hits all game. Another time, he struck out 17 batters against Munich, North Dakota, in just seven innings.
