Gerry Shumanski

Gerry Shumanski was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on November 22, 1939. Shumanski was a tremendous shortstop for the Dauphin Redbirds for 20 years. He was a Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL) first-team all-star six times, and a second-team all-star four times. Shumanski was a key part of multiple teams that won won MSBL championships, and his team also won the Birtle July 1st tournament in 1963, ’65, and ’66. Shumanski was always a strong lead-off hitter, and he led the MSBL in walks in 1968, and he hit at .432 in 1970. He was also well known in curling circles.
