George Leduchowski

George Leduchowski was born in Teulon, Manitoba on January 28, 1932. Leduchowski started his baseball career in 1946 with the local Interlake team, which included four brothers. This team was the top league and tournament team in the region during much of the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s. In 1970, Leduchowski moved to Teulon to help develop Green Acres Park, one of the finest facilities in western Canada. Leduchowski played, coached, managed, and promoted baseball in Manitoba for over half a century. His Teulon team won the western Canada crown in Watrous, Saskatchewan in 1975, the western Canada crown again in Brandon, Manitoba in 1991, and the Redboine Senior League title in 1997. Known fondly to Teulon as “Mr. Baseball”, Leduchowski was famous for his “hook” ball.
