Del Hanson was born in Cereal, Alberta on August 8, 1933. Hanson was an RCMP officer who made his Manitoba baseball reputation while pitching for Shoal Lake in the 1950s. Later, he went on to play in Carberry, Wellwood, and Erickson. He also occasionally threw for other teams who sought his arm for tournaments. He was a left-hander with an awesome fastball and a devilish slider. His teammates always appreciated his good humor, win or lose.
