Dave McConachy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 25, 1925. McConachy was an excellent catcher, a fine coach, and a power hitter. He was a scout for the Montreal Expos and the Seattle Mariners in the 1970s. McConachy played with the Canadian Ukrainian Athletics Club champs in 1943, the Navy from 1943-46, Rosedale in 1946, the Brandon Greys in 1947, and in the Kitty League with the New York Giants in 1947. McConachy went on to be player-manager for Neepawa in 1950, and later manager for the Transcona Atomics, the Winnipeg Junior Buffaloes, and the Dauphin Redbirds.
