Dale Hunter was born in Nesbitt, Manitoba on August 25, 1959. He was a slugging outfielder for 21 years with the Riverside Canucks in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL). Hunter won Rookie of the Year honours in 1978 and was the batting champion twice, once in 1984 with a .515 average and once in 1992 with .455. He was named to the MSBL first all-star team eight times, and the second all-star team eight times as well. His power hitting was clear in his stats, as he was the league homerun leader eight times. Hunter was also league runs-batted-in leader eight times. In 1990, Hunter was the MSBL MVP, in 1991 he was the Manitoba Baseball Association Senior Player of the Year, and he was on MSBL league championship teams six times. Furthermore, his Riverside Canucks won the Manitoba provincial championship three times. Hunter was also a member of Team Manitoba , which won a bronze medal at the Baseball Canada championship in Kentville, Nova Scotia, in 1985. For his immense talent, he was selected to the MSBL 40 year second all-star team. Later in his career, Hunter gave back to the game of baseball by serving as an umpire in both youth and teenage baseball.
