Cam Hurst was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 12, 1941. Hurst played for the Deer Lodge Community Club, Arborg, the Isaac Brock Royals, the Transcona Atomics, Team Canada, and Team Manitoba. Hurst was an outstanding player in many areas of the game. Teams such as the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees were very interested in signing him, especially after he won back to back junior championships with the Isaac Brock Royals. Transcona also won several provincial titles throughout the 1960s. Hurst’s career highlights were playing left field for Canada in the 1967 Pan-Am Games, and playing for Team Manitoba during the first ever Canada Summer Games in 1969. Later, Hurst went on to manage Arctic Fishing Lodges and pursue a career outdoors.
