Sam Jamieson was born in McAuley, Manitoba on December 21, 1949. Jamieson was an excellent shortstop. He played with the McAuley Red Sox from 1964-72 and the McAuley Blazers from 1973-93. From 1983-93 he was a player coach, and he was part of three teams that won Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL) Championships. Jamieson was named to the MSBL first all-star team 14 times, and to the second all-star team three times. He was a player or coach for Team Manitoba on eight occasions at western Canadian or National Championships, and he played with the Canadian team at the World Championships in Nicaragua in 1972. Jamieson was the Manitoba Baseball Association Coach of the Year in 1987. He was called “Sam” by many who played with him.
