Garry Keating was born in Brandon, Manitoba on July 27, 1943. Keating played with over 25 teams in his baseball career. He pitched for the Brandon Cloverleafs in five different decades, and spent 18 years in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League (MSBL). Eight of these were with Brandon, eight were with Dauphin, one was with Hamiota, and one was with St. Lazare. Keating was the MSBL top pitcher in 1967 and was MVP for the Dauphin Redbirds in 1973. He was a three-time member of Team Manitoba, and he won silver with one team in 1973 at Edmunston, New Brunswick. His team won the Manitoba title in 1973, ’76, and ’80. During this time, he was one of the best pitchers in the MSBL. Keating also played with the Westman Merchants in 1972 in the Canadian Major Fastball League.
