Don Maskiw was a top level pitcher for nearly thirty years. He began playing baseball Birtle, but played most of his career with teams from St. Boniface, especially with the Native Sons (1978 – 1994). While with the St. Boniface Native Sons, the team won the Eastern Manitoba Senior Baseball League pennant (1978), the Red Boine Senior Baseball League pennant (1979, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994). Maskiw participated in five Canadian national championship events. He was an all star many times in the Manitoba Junior League, Eastern Manitoba Senior League (1978), or Red Boine Senior League (1979, 1980, 1982). He was named “Pitcher of the Year” of the Red Boine Senior Baseball League in 1982 and 1994. His best year was in 1978, when his record was 14-2, and his second best year in 1993, when he went 10-3. He pitched his most memorable inning in 1968, when he walked the bases full, then struck out the next three hitters after coming back from 3-0 on all of them.
