Winnipeg’s Mr. Baseball, served in W.W.I. with U.S. artillery. 1919 – started Catholic Club and in 1920 became Columbus Club, 1922 became sr. league champs, 1927 – coached Dokey Tigers and were Manitoba champs in 1931-32, league folded in 30’s. 1945 started coaching Columbus Club jr. and in 1952 won city crown well known for humility and humanitarianism – Kiwanis and Knights of Columbus, helped start Manitoba Schools Football League in 1931, matchless – after dinner speaker Manitoba Marathon and Canoe-a-thon supporter, beloved St. Paul’s gym named after him.
